No-booze day! Alcohol banned for Buddhist Lent Day nationwide

Happy no-booze day!

Congratulations, you have lived to see the day when Thai officials decided to add one more day to the calendar banning the sale of alcohol beverages.

Starting this year, the Ministry of Health announced that the sale of booze is banned on Buddhist Lent Day at all premises except the airport’s duty-free.

We really hope you stocked up.

Aside from today, the sale of alcohol is banned for a total of five religious Buddhist holidays including Makha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, Asalaha Bucha, and the start of Buddhist Lent Day.

Violators will face a six-month jail time and a maximum THB10,000 fine.
