The folks behind some of Bangkok’s hottest new watering holes will bring jazz and cocktails to swanky Langsuan Road later this year.

Hot on the heels of their latest, Liberation, being named the capital’s best new bar, Tango Tonight dished Thursday to Coconuts Bangkok on their yet-to-be-named jazz joint coming to the parkside end of the road running down from Chitlom.

“I always want to go to a jazz bar but most in Bangkok are boring. This one is going to be fun,” said Pattarit “Bink” Jittawait, founder of the Tango Tonight group, which also owns Rabbit Hole and the Michelin-starred Canvas.

Expect stadium-style-yet-cozy seating around a well-appointed stage and dance floor with live music that’s more upbeat “Swing Kids” than needle-in-arm Miles Davis. Bink said they’re going for a “celebratory, post-war vibe.”

High ceilings will create a grand space when it opens in the Langsuan Village megaproject on land owned by the crown. It will mark jazz music’s return to the neighborhood a decade after Brown Sugar packed up and moved out of nearby Sarasin intersection.

The booze? Bink said it will focus more on classic formulations rather than the experimental, thematic pours of Liberation.

Langsuan Village is a massive commercial and residential development consuming much of lower Langsuan Road. A community mall is expected to open in July, and Tango Tonight expects their club to open its doors in October.
