Bangkok’s unlikely claim to world-class bagels got a boost from Canada with the arrival of Montreal-style bagels.
The bar has been raised at Monty’s, a new Thonglor bagelry by the same team behind casual all-day eatery Roast and specialty cafe Roots, which is now making Montreal’s answer to bagels for delivery or pickup.
Unlike its counterpart New York bagels, these Montreal-inspired bagels are a touch smaller, thinner, sweeter and denser with use of a sourdough base. They’re all made by hand before being poached in honey water, which gives them a golden sheen after baking.
Monty’s is currently offering four types — classic, onion, sesame, or everything (THB60 each; add THB20 for cream cheese) — or opt for an open-faced sandwich like The Monty’s (THB250) topped with smoked salmon, heirloom tomato, cream cheese, capers, red onion and dill.
Orders can be made via Foodpanda, Grab, Robinhood or Line Man (@Montysbkk) or pick it up at the shop on the third floor of The Commons Thonglor, which is open 8am to 3pm daily.
