The afternoon caffeine hit and cookie is standard practice all over the world. In nicer hotels and coffee shops, any cup will be accompanied with a small biscuit. In The Netherlands, there are stroopwafels warmed over the tops of coffee cups, the UK has their afternoon tea and biscuits, and the Nordic countries have their fika tradition, where coworkers share sweets and coffee together.

This Bangkok coffee shop, in the Thong Lor neighborhood (they also have a location in Sathorn’s So Sofitel), has found a new way to incorporate the coffee and small sweet snack tradition, even for those on the go. It also ties in with the regional social push to ban single-use plastics and Styrofoam, which are what take-away drinks would normally be served in.
This latte, called KOF Kone, has become an online hit, with foodies posting about it and sharing photos of their cones. It’s served in a homemade waffle cone drizzled with chocolate, which hardens on the waffle. As the latte is carefully poured in, the chocolate starts to melt from the inside, creating a rich, mocha-like drink in the cone.

Not a latte fan? You can also order the cone with matcha or hot chocolate inside (all cost THB140/US$4.2).

A word of warning: once the chocolate starts melting, you’re biting into the “cup,” and the cone starts to go soft, you’re going to need to one-shot this caffeinated bad boy before you make a mess.

This is obviously an easy drink to take on-the-go, but if you choose to sit and sip, the coffee shop provides a glass base where you can rest your cone cup.
