Great news for foodies and fans of Sanrio character Gudetama — the “lazy egg”-themed cafe is coming to Thailand!
Flashfly has reported that Japan’s Gudetama cafe, which is most famous for serving kawaii food and drinks in the shape of the beloved egg character, will be imported by Central into one of its department stores within the year.
The cafe is set to open in the third or fourth quarter of 2017. Fans will have to follow up on the location of the cafe, which is yet unconfirmed.
Gudetama is a charmingly unmotivated raw egg character from Sanrio. According to Rocket News, Gudetama gets its name from a combination of the Japanese words “gude,” which is used to describe something or someone with no energy or strength, and “tama” from the word “tamago,” which means egg. It is often referred to as “the lazy egg” by Thai fans.
The first Gudetama Cafe was first launched in 2015 in Osaka, Japan. After that, it expanded to Tokyo, and other countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.
