Founded in Cape Town in 1996 and by a self-proclaimed nutrition nerd, Kauai (please remember to pronounce it ka-wa-ee or risk offense) specializes in simple, accessible meals and drinks made with seasonally sourced ingredients — ideal for those looking to eat a bit better this year.
In Bangkok, the chain is run by the Dusit group, which helped it scale from a gym-based haunt to an expanding mini-empire with dishes like the dragon fruit smoothie bowl (pink dragon fruit, mango, coconut milk, pressed apple juice, banana, and mint; THB190); sliced avocado with poached free-range eggs (THB150); and the popular princess wrap (THB240) filled with chicken, avocado, feta, and veggies.
There are plenty of options when it comes to beverages as well, from caffeinated drinks to raw juice and smoothies. Some of them are Daily Greens (apple, spinach, celebrity, cucumber and chia starting at THB140) and Matcha Boost (Japanese green tea, yogurt, coconut milk, honey and milk starting at THB170). If you want to kick it up a notch, just go for a glass of Floo Juice (cayenne pepper, ginger, lemon, carrot and orange starting at THB140).
Kauai is located on the ground floor of the Asoke Towers near BTS Asok or MRT Sukhumvit. It’s open 7:30am to 6:30pm every day. Diners at home can order via Robinhood, GrabFood, or Line Man.
