The mixology and mythology of Iron Fairies is set to return this month at a new location on Soi Sukhumvit 39.
While little is known about the reopening of the storied and stylish bar that has had several iterations, the bar has been teasing its return online. An Iron Fairies rep confirmed today that it will happen March 17 or soon thereafter.
The first venue created by famed nightlife designer Ashley Sutton, Iron Fairies used to be known as much for its music and low-lit Victorian steampunk vibes as much as its drinks. Recent photos of gargoyles and hanging bottles on the bar’s socials suggest more of the same style is in store.
But Sutton is no longer involved. The Australian designer behind places such as Maggie Choo’s, Sing Sing Theater, J. Boroski, and Fat Gutz had an acrimonious break with his partners years ago and is not involved. Curiously, he has been opening several franchises under the same name in cities across Southeast Asia.
The new bar will be part of the renovated location of L’Opera, which closed three years at the outset of the pandemic. Set to reopen soon, it will also include Italian restaurant L’Opera, a gelato shop and fine dining location.
