The first time bars were ordered shut and a booze ban slapped in place, a Thonglor speakeasy behind a row of gym lockers shut down and hoped for it to end. This time, nearly a year later, it was prepared for the “second wave” pain.

Find the Locker Room last week shifted from a bar to cafe serving non-alcoholic beverages and a few bites, from cold-brew coffee and bubble tea to deep-fried tofu and tonkatsu (rice and deep-fried pork cutlets and curry).

At Find the Locker Room, those bored with drinking from home can still get the bar experience via the “The Side Door” menu of mocktail twists on signature cocktails, including new-ish offerings from partner venue Find the Photo Booth. They include the popcorn-topped Fighting Rooster (THB150), From Singapore to Yokohama (THB120) and Bug on a Stick (THB120).

Think mocktails are only worthy of mockery? Customers can opt for caffeinated drinks as well. The bar uses Doi Tung beans from the north to craft some specialty drinks with some unfortunate puns: We Are Mint To Be (a chocolate-glazed glass containing cold brew coffee, yellow peppers and mint for THB100) and You Are Tea-riffic (Thai milk tea with tapioca pearls for THB100). Yu-zu Cute (THB100) could be a fave for its refreshing, zesty sour sips and gentle fruity fragrance.

The bites promote some of the bartenders’ side hustles: Bartender Thanachot “Ong” Lohanimit’s vegetarian-friendly I Want To-Fu Tonight (deep-fried tofu, fried shallots, pickled radish and onion sauce for THB100) and Navaphol “Pete” Uengsatienpong’s Keep Calm and Curry On (rice, deep-fried pork cutlets and yellow curry for THB120).

The current prohibition on alcohol sales at all Bangkok venues will remain in place until at least Jan. 31, when updated containment measures are to be announced.

Find the Locker Room is a cocktail bar situated behind a set of metal lockers at a shophouse in Soi Thonglor 14. It’s best to get there by motorbike or taxi from BTS Thong Lo.
