In case you missed it, venues across the city will soon be celebrating the 11th annual Negroni Week next week with special menus that pay homage to both the classic cocktail and Campari, the Italian apéritif that is at the heart of any Negroni.
This year specifically, and in collaboration with Imbibe Magazine and global charity Slow Food, the organizers behind Negroni Week are spotlighting those individuals who know all there is to know about concocting that perfect Negroni: bartenders. Every day from September 18 to September 24, a slew of award-winning bartenders will be taking over various Bangkok venues with their own twist on a Negroni. So far, here’s the full confirmed schedule:
- September 18: Giorgino Bargiani at the BKK Social Club opens the week with Negronis featuring his signature Italian flare
- September 19: Joe Schofield presents a menu of creatively curated drinks at Lennon’s; Noppasate Hirunwathit keeps the party interesting at Siam Yacht Club
- September 20: George Kavaklis at Rabbit Hole and Mars Chang at Thaipioka presenting both classic and contemporary versions of Campari-featured drinks at the two venues
- September 21: Special guest shifts at Zuma Bangkok put a unique spin on things with Japanese-inspired Negronis; Nick Sourmpatis wows with his own Greek take on drinks at The Loft Bangkok; Kou-Hao Wu (aka Hardy) steps up to the bar at Oskar Bistro Bangkok; Bangkok’s own Jane Kaew-yod holds a guest shift at SoCal
- September 22: Fabio Nanni at Ms.Jigger shakes things up with unique Negroni recipes; Firefly Bar lays out special “whimsical variations” of the Negroni courtesy of Alexandre Renoue; Matteo Cadeddu takes over Diplomat Bar
- September 23: Gir shines the spotlight on Victor Arguello Maggiolo; outside of Bangkok; Jane Kaew-yod mans Hua Hin’s Nomada Open Fire Grill & Beach Bar while Noppasate Hirunwathi takes over Woo Bar in Koh Samui
- September 24: Specially curated negroni menu at AQUA Bar
