A new development in Taco Bell’s imminent debut in Bangkok emerged this week, when the American Tex-Mex chain began recruiting employees for its store at Mercury Ville, a mall located right at the foot of BTS Chidlom.

Recruitment ads began circulating within Thai job-searching Facebook groups this week, and show that the new outpost in Bangkok has openings for more than 40 team members and store managers. The ads were originally distributed by Siam Taco Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Thoresen Thai Agencies (TTA), who acquired the license to operate Taco Bell in Thailand.

CEO Chalermchai Mahagitsiri of TTA first announced in June that the company had successfully closed the Taco Bell deal with its parent company Yum! Brands, expecting that the American fast food chain will be a hit because of its “strong flavors that meet the palate of Asian people.”

In the report, Chalermchai said Thais could expect their first Taco Bell at the end of this year, or in early 2019.

Will Taco Bell take a Thai influence? Might we expect a pad-thai or tom yum goong-flavored taco? We’ll find out soon enough.

First opened in 1962 in Downey, California, Taco Bell now has about 7,000 franchises across the world. It first entered the Asian market by launching in China in 2003.
