One of our readers’ favorite temples of dance is temporarily closing for a facelift.
Glow Nightclub, where throngs of sonic connoisseurs gather to worship underground sounds, will close its doors Sunday for renovations expected to take most of May.
Those accustomed to its slightly stifling and cramped space need not worry: It won’t be reopening with the velvet ropes, white linen and VIP zones of other sois.
Instead the renovation will focus on juicing up the lighting effects and putting in a more lethal sound system, while adding some more neighborhood-friendly sound-proofing, better air conditioning and a new bar.
“You name it, we’re tackling it,” owner Gert VanSteenbergen said.
The club said it will maintain the same vibe while installing better gear to “intensify the clubbing experience.”
They expect to reopen in the third week of May.
