When that dumpling craving hits, you can either drop some dough on a proper dim sum session, or go the opposite end of the spectrum and grub on 7-Eleven’s grab-and-go dumplings on sticks. Are there any viable options in between, though?
The answer is yes: Recently, the riverside old town area welcomed a new spot called Feng Zhu, which specializes in serving potstickers that are made from scratch and add unconventional fillings into the mix.
Going beyond common fillings such as pork and napa cabbage, Feng Zhu offers its steamed dumplings in five creative fillings, from Five Mushrooms to trendy tongue-numbing mala. Northern Thai cuisine gives inspiration to a dried Hung Lay Curry filling, too.
Each dumpling is THB12, except for the ones with five mushrooms that are priced at THB15 each. Additional toppings such as mozzarella cheese, salted egg yolk, wakame seaweed and tobiko flying fish roe range from THB2 to THB5.
The small cafe, decorated with vintage-style tiles and Chinese language newspaper scraps, is located near River City, a lifestyle mall overlooking the Chao Phraya River. The venue has only four tables and offers delivery food service via LINE MAN.
