Bangkok boasts a massive food scene, with a high concentration of eateries in busy areas throughout the capital. However this availability of easy eats is often frustrated by the city’s chronic traffic issues. Having so much wonderful food just out of reach can be a downer to many food explorers. Clearly not many people would want to trade off a four-hour Sukhumvit traffic nightmare for a single bowl of Tom Yum noodles on Thong Lo, regardless of how scrumptious it is. That’s why food delivery services are thriving in Bangkok.
With the growing demand comes more variety and choice. Beyond the norms of pizza, fried chicken and sukiyaki served up by giant restaurant chains, food lovers can now bite into distinctive tastes such as spicy veggie salad, Chinese-style fried pork, bajang (steamed sticky rice with salted yolk) and even fresh oysters in their own home.
Among the plethora of food delivery services out there in Bangkok, below are six awesome homemade services hand-picked by Coconuts. We’re not talking about services which merely transport food from various establishments, but private kitchens offering direct delivery. This list is based on our own experience as we ordered the fare delivered to our doorstep and tasted every dish ourselves.
A few traits shared by these services: They love their own food, they specialize in it, and they have no physical shop. Now you can imagine their work routine – receiving orders on Facebook, cooking it out of their own kitchens and having it delivered hot and fresh to you.
Operating on a small scale, many of them require advance order placements. But if you wish to spice up your office breaks or evening feast, we’d say it’s worth the wait.
My Mom Moo Tod
Aromatic, slightly salty, golden-brown chunky pieces of fried skinless pork belly are what you can expect from My Mom Moo Tod (fried pork). The meat comes in a box of 500 grams with a pack of sticky rice (THB300), a portion that can feed four-to-five people.
Run by a family of Chinese descent, My Mom Moo Tod monetizes on its century-old recipe inheriting from generation to generation. As ready to eat as it might look like on the photo, the cooking process is a totally different story. According to the owner, to get a box of fried pork, he has to not only pick the right part of pork and slice it in right size, but also fry it for more than one hour in an old-school Chinese technique that requires constant stirring. And the results are very impressive.
This melt-in-your-mouth meat can either go solo as your main dish or accompany absolutely anything, from som tam to Thai drunken spaghetti.

Legumes
Legumes bring hope to many Thai vegans who have been long left with only a few banal choices such as deep-fried protein balls or bitter melon soup, unfortunate choices of necessity which often taste like watery hospital food. With a background in fashion design and a two-decade commitment to eating vegan, Kreangkrai Sae-tieo has differentiated his menus with more colors and flavors.
The colorful Fried Rice with Broccoli and Salted Fish (THB80), and Mr. Tofu (THB80) are Coconuts’ picks. For the first dish, the brown rice is stir-fried and seasoned properly, then spiked with a mix of salted fish and lime scents that make devouring it irresistable. Mr. Tofu features three triangular pieces of fat, soft white tofu gorged with saucy minced mushrooms and sprinkled with clear gravy.
Other top-selling menus include Spicy Minced Sausage Salad with Mushrooms (THB85), Baby Jackfruit Red Curry (THB80), Fried Mushrooms with Herbs (THB90) and Fried Rice Vermicelli with Water Mimosa (THB80).
Legumes also provide customized vegan monthly plans for those who have specific needs.

JQ Seafood Delivery
Two main barometers for good seafood are freshness and sauce tastiness. JQ Seafood Delivery seems to excel in both.
Fresh produce is shipped up from Surat Thani in the south to JQ Seafood’s kitchen every day before being cooked and delivered to Bangkok households. A secret recipe of the sauce lies in small-sized cloves of garlic which are rich in scent.
Founded by seafood superfan Sureerat Sriphromkam, JQ Seafood thrives as it meets the needs of urban residents, who crave fresh seafood but don’t want to drive all the way to the sea.
JQ Seafood serves steamed blue swimmer crab (THB450 for 1 kilogram), steamed crabmeat (THB380), fried squid (THB195), big oysters (THB150 for 4) and grilled prawn (THB380 for 13-15).

Mama Guichai
Mama Guichai is the definite go-to source for Cantonese cuisine delivery. It began as a startup project by owner Tippawan Naruemityarn’s husband for an SME class. Tippawan’s suggested he base his business proposal on her mother-in-law’s secret recipes, and thus began a delicious enterprise.
Tippawan has developed her products as the business grows. The signature Guichai or chive dumplings (THB6 per piece) boast softer and thinner flour wrappers than other restaurants, allowing diners to enjoy the juicy, succulent fillings in the first bite. Mama Guichai also serves the original and Coconuts favorite Mama Hongte (THB200), a perfect blend between chive dumplings and prawn filling.
Mama Guichai’s other mouthwatering products include Kanom Pakkad (fried radish cake) (THB70), Bajang (steamed sticky rice with salted yolk) (THB40) and Piah Moo Dang (BBQ pork pie) (THB100).

Norwegian Salmon Store
Norwegian Salmon Store was founded by a genuine salmon maniac as a resource for his salmon maniac compatriots. Having eaten the pinkish fish flesh since childhood, Thanoyos Sakulsupij decided to choose salmon distribution as his calling.
With a whole pack of raw salmon fillet or smoked salmon (THB999-1,500), weighing one-to-1.5 kilograms, you can get creative with menus of your own choice. Sashimi, salmon steak or spicy salmon salad? You name it.
Yet if you are falling short of how to turn the fish into a dish, Thanoyos’s expertise comes in handy. The outgoing owner will eagerly advise you on everything from how to unfreeze, slice, cook to store it for the next meal. And this is what we love most about Norwegian Salmon Store.

Sweet Me Bakery
There might already be myriad cake shops in Bangkok, yet Sweet Me Bakery effortlessly has carved out its niche, despite operating solely on Facebook. Unlike other cake shops, which rely on a flamboyant physical setting, Sweet Me Bakery has proven that if the cakes are good enough, the orders will come.
Sweet Me Bakery can help you turn your house into a sweet heaven with just a few clicks. Our favorite is one of their best sellers, the Vanilla Mousse Cake with Strawberries (THB1,100). One bite of this soft moist dessert delivers on both sweetness and sourness, a perfect mix derived from milky vanilla cream, juicy fresh strawberries and fragrant strawberry sauce.
The shop also offers a huge lineup of sweet products from cupcakes and mousse cakes and cookies to custom 3D cakes for special occasions.
