Bangkok’s venerable Bed Supperclub officially turned 10 years old on Wednesday night – and the city’s party scenesters did not take such an event lightly.
There was a laundry list of infamous Bangkok nightlife creatures in attendance, so for me it was an excuse to see a lot of familiar faces.
Loyal supporters were invited to a three-course dinner and naughty entertainment (see the Facebook photo album) to start the evening off, followed by a private pre-party. The public was welcome to join after 11pm but by this time it was already packed, with a well-groomed line-up along the infamous white steps.
The dress code was “Fifty Shades of White” and frankly, I came into this a little weary. Bangkok is no stranger to the infamous white theme, from the recent Sensation party to the monthly So Kool pool parties at Sofitel So, so it really could’ve been a fashion disaster. However, the Bed crowd didn’t let the club down. Partygoers came dressed to the nines, but a special thanks goes to the freakshows who really stepped up to the plate wearing wigs, wings and S&M gear (I’m nodding at you, Eddy Frampton) to wrap up the X-Rated them.
The Facebook event page mentioned such perks as “a kissing booth” and “an international condoms pop-up” but I didn’t see this and truthfully, it’s probably because I couldn’t leave the white room’s dancefloor. There were too many characters cavorting around all the over the place and the music didn’t leave much room for relaxation. Thanks to the DJs, you know who you are – it’s your fault I left this event a sweaty mess.
