Mark your calendars lads and lassies! The largest hooley Bangkok has ever seen will be coming to town on September 22nd to celebrate all things Irish. The event celebrates three important occasions: The Irish Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Gathering, Guinness’ Arthur’s day, and the opening of Flann O’Brien’s Irish Bar at Asiatique.
There’s a lot going on here, so we’re going to break it down for you. Firstly, The Gathering is worldwide celebration of Irish heritage that’s all about bringing different Irish clans together to create awareness and celebrate a shared heritage and culture that has been in existence for thousands of years. The ITCC will celebrate with the Bangkok-based Irish clan as other people from the land of Ire celebrate their heritage worldwide. It’s a lot like St. Patty’s day, just without the leprechauns and shamrocks.
And of course everyone’s favorite black stout with a creamy head will be flowing in honor of Arthur Guinness; guests will be expected to raise a pint to honor Mr. Guiness at 17:59(5:59) in reference to the year the Guinness brewery was established. This is also a worldwide celebration, with many cities hosting large concerts. We hear that they’ll be some fantastic Irish music at the Bangkok celebration.
Attendees will be treated to a free glass of Guinness as a welcome drink.
And lastly, the whole shebang is timed perfectly to celebrate the opening of Asiatique’s newest Irish bar, Flann O’Brien’s. See you on September 22nd.
