DINING DISPATCH: Next week is American Restaurant Week!

Thailand and America have maintained an amicable relationship for quite some time. The pair’s friendly association began when President Andrew Jackson gifted a golden sword engraved with an eagle and an elephant to King Rama III in the early 1800’s and, as evidenced by Obama’s friendly visit last year, that friendship is still going strong.

So how should we celebrate 180 years of kinship?

The answer is American Restaurant Week, a weeklong celebration in which American-owned restaurants in Thailand offer special menus at discounted prices.

Some opportunities to note: Bully’s pub on Sukhumvit will be doing Buffalo wings the right way—with Franks Red Hot sauce (18 wings for THB180!). Decanter at the St. Regis will be serving up some St. Louis pork spare ribs with BBQ sauce, roasted potatoes and grilled corn, and Firehouse on Soi 11 is even offering 20% off any order.

American Restaurant Week runs between March 18 and 24 at locations across the city.
