Bangkok’s bar scene is growing and glowing. A shophouse in the city’s old town adorned with a neon-lit logo and a red glow emanating from within opened its doors last week, serving a good selection of craft beer.

Tai Soon Bar on Mahachai Road features a multitude of canned and bottled craft beer offerings, as well as a few rotating brews on tap.

Beer geeks can select from a range of extra-hoppy IPAs, an irresistible chocolate peanut butter imperial stout, a silky-smooth vanilla shake beer, or even Nonthaburi Mead, Thailand’s first legal craft honey wine made from 100 percent local longan honey.

The Chinese-themed watering hole is located across the road from the popular Pad Thai Pratu Phi, and street food queen Jay Fai’s restaurant, which is best known for the titular chef’s crab omelette and drunken noodle. So, after a super long queue at the Pad Thai joint or Jay Fai’s, you might want to cross the street to have a few well-deserved cold ones before heading home.

Tai Soon Bar is open from 5pm until midnight every day.
