Bangkok’s most “creative cocktail bar” on the edge of Chinatown has expanded its hours and offerings to serve coffee and caffeine-charged mocktails.
Asia Today is now open during the day on weekends to kickstart patrons with caffeinated drinks. The bar is known for featuring locally sourced ingredients in their cocktails, and now they’ve applied the same concept to their coffee drinks, too.
Those who prefer their coffee black can keep it straightforward with a pour-over, but if you’re happy going the non-traditionalist route, then you might be more interested in trying one of the five craft coffee drinks on the cafe menu.
They’re all non-alcoholic, and use coffee as the foundation for blends that we haven’t really seen elsewhere. Among them is the Lhor Hung Guay (or luo han guo, in Chinese), monk fruit juice mixed with coffee and tonic (THB120).
There’s also the Mango Meringue (THB140), a mix of mango and coffee that’s then topped with foam from the tropical fruit. The Jack&Rose, another fruit-filled concoction, is made with coffee, jackfruit, rose tea and jackfruit jelly (THB120).
According to Asia Today, the coffee beans are sourced from local roasters in Chiang Mai and Ubon Ratchathani.
The newly launched cafe is only open on weekends, from 10am to 4pm. The bar is open from 7pm until late every day except Monday.
Founded by Niks Anuman-Rajadhon, Asia Today opened in 2017 in Soi Nana near Chinatown. The bar’s emphasis on local sourcing resulted means cocktails made with fresh chrysanthemum flowers from Chiang Rai, garlic from Lampang and honey from the Khao Yai National Park.
