Charley Brown’s Mexicana, along with Cheap Charlie’s bar and a handful of other popular bars and restaurants in an alley on Sukhumvit Soi 11 are starting to close to make room for a real estate development, as we first reported in June.

Kai New Zealand, Stash and The Alchemist bars have already shuttered their spots and none yet have plans to re-open.

Cheap Charlie’s, the beloved outdoor expat bar that anchors the side soi, will serve their last drinks on March 31 and have also not yet found a suitable place to re-open, though they are looking.

Thankfully, the owners of Charley Brown’s have been hard at work building a new restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 19, on the street’s first sub-soi on the left, according to Manager and Partner Dave Bell, who shared the artist renderings of the new space that you see here.

“We’re extremely excited and happy to have found this location. It’s a small, quiet soi similar to the one on Soi 11. It’s about 50 percent bigger than our current location, and the kitchen is much larger, which is fantastic news since we’ve always managed with a tiny area,” he explained.

He noted that they also will have a larger outdoor seating area that’s even big enough for dancing or a lie band.

They plan to open the new location in early April, but check their Facebook page for up-to-date info.
