There’s been a lot going on in Soi Langsuan lately. Most recently, the luxury district welcomed a feline-inspired bar dedicated to Thai whisky and cocktails.

In the lobby of the Sindhorn Midtown hotel, The Black Cat presents a playful, seductive space with a black-tinged, 40-seat lounge-slash-bar boasting sultry interiors, fluted glass detailing, and black cat outlines that cast silhouettes across the floor, plus quirky cat artwork on the wall.

The drinks are overseen by head barman and whiskey aficionado Jedsada Tanariyachai, and the signature cocktails are named after Thai cats whose owners believe bring good fortune, while the mocktails reference fictional felines like Garfield and Bastet.

Start off with mildly sweet The Black Cat (THB280), a black-and-gold drink infused with Mekong rum and house-made ginger cola. For something stronger, opt for the Copper (THB280), a Negroni spin-off made with Sangsom, Campari, Mancino Bianco vermouth, and passion fruit.

Named after that world-famous breed known for striking blue eyes and a cream-colored body, the Siamese (THB280) sees spiced rum mixed with sweet vermouth, homemade yellow curry extract, prosecco brut, cucumber, and celery.

The mocktail versions of each drink are available for THB180.

The bar has some grub to offer as well. Patrons can expect globe-spanning bar bites like anticuchos de gambas tigre (tiger prawn skewers), deep-fried shrimp balls, deep-fried Isaan sausages and wagyu skewers.

The Black Cat is located at the Sindhorn Midtown Hotel in Soi Langsuan. It’s open from 2pm to midnight every day.
