Cantina Wine Bar & Italian Kitchen, the popular Ari Italian trattoria and wine shop, has expanded into the bustling Soi Sukhumvit area with a new sister branch.
The fresh-faced trattoria says its specialization lies in serving authentic Neapolitan pizza, which comes from Naples, Italy and typically features high quality tomatoes and mozzarella cheese as the base. Apparently, what’s so special about Cantina’s pizzas is the dough, which is made fresh daily and left to ferment for a total of 48 hours — a process which gives the finished crust a light, airy texture and that subtle tangy kick that you’d find in sourdough breads.
The toppings are kept fairly simple (as is traditional for Naples) and features ingredients imported from Italy.
Among a dozen of the 12-inch Neapolitan pizzas currently available on Cantina’s menu are the Margherita (tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil, THB280) and Salsiccia (tomato sauce, smoked scamorza cheese, Italian pork sausage and fresh rucola, THB340). Mushroom lovers may opt for the Prosciutto and Funghi that comes with tomato sauce, mozzarella, cured Italian ham, shiitake mushrooms and fresh basil (THB350.)
Cantina Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen’s grand opening event starts at 8pm May 15, with an open bar that will run from 8pm through 9pm.
On opening night, mixologist Davide Sambo, who oversees the beverage program at Cantina Pizzeria, will take over the bar and serve up some specialized cocktails such as the Milano By Night (Fernet Branca, Branca Menta, Maraschino Luxardo, guava, citrus, orange blossom and grapefruit bitters, THB300) and Mirtillo Sour (Bacardi White Rum, Braulio Amaro Alpino, Rinomato Americano, Crème de Cassis, balsamic vinegar, citrus and egg white, THB250).
This new location of Cantina is the latest venue from Soho Hospitality, a Bangkok-based restaurant group that is also behind other well-known F&B concepts in the city including Cuban-themed speakeasy Havana Social, rooftop bar Above Eleven and wine bar The Bar Upstairs.
