Bangkok’s ‘Nahm’ voted best in Asia by Restaurant Magazine

A Bangkok restaurant has been voted best in Asia for 2014.

Nahm, which opened in 2010 at the Metropolitan Hotel on Sathon Road, was awarded the top spot on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014 list at an awards ceremony yesterday in Singapore.

Australian Chef David Thompson’s “close attention to the Thai tenets of sour, sweet, salt and spice, as well as his penchant for smoked ingredients, makes Nahm a shining example of fine Thai cuisine and a restaurant worthy to sit on any galloping gastronomes’ list of must-visit destinations,” according to the list by Restaurant Magazine.

Another Bangkok restaurant, Gaggan, placed third. Winners were selected by 936 experts on the international restaurant scene, according to the site.

The Top 10:

  • Nahm – Bankgok, Thailand
  • Narisawa – Tokyo, Japan
  • Gaggan – Bangkok, Thailand
  • Amber – Hong Kong, China
  • Nihonryori RyuGin – Tokyo, Japan
  • Restaurant Andre – Singapore
  • Waku Ghin – Singapore
  • Ultraviolent by Paul Pairet – Shanghai, China
  • Lung King Heen – Hong Kong, China
  • 8 ½ Otto E Mezzo Bombana – Hong Kong, China
