Bangkok dessert shop launches quirky ‘disinfectant’ popsicles

Having shut down its shop inside the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a hip ice cream shop isn’t about to stop serving its signature wacky scoops.

Best known for serving highly unusual icy treats – they’ve come as breaded tonkatsu and even deep-fried and melting like the polar ice caps – IceDEA has launched a new product with a nod at the current pandemic – a disinfectant bottle popsicle.

“Unfortunately, it cannot kill the disease, but it’s guaranteed to relax you,” the shop wrote on Facebook. 

The dessert, dubbed “0% Alcohol Siripoj,” imitates the appearance of nationally known disinfectant brand Siribuncha but uses the name of the company’s location on Soi Siripoj (Sukhumvit 81) instead. Taste-wise, it sounds like it will be a refreshing summer spin on a Mint Kamikaze, without the spirit.

They go on sale Friday via delivery only at THB179 for two popsicles and THB699 per eight.
