Know someone that would like a romantic and gothic French bistro-style restaurant filled with peaked windows, sunlight, old brick, and endless dried flowers? Going on a date that you hope to make super amorous? Take them to B-Story.

This cafe and restaurant has been fashioned to look like an otherworldly little European cafe and shop, with unmatched, reclaimed wood tables and chairs, dark brick walls, and black iron pane windows and skylights.

The stained glass windows scattered throughout also give the place the feeling of an old countryside church you’d pass on a drive through old world Europe. In fact, some reviewers have even mistaken the place for a former church. Inside tip: It’s totally not, the owner just loves details like that.

While some corners of B-Story seem urban loft-styled, most of the cafe features the French farmhouse decor that visitors leave rave reviews for.

The homey-feeling cafe is two stories and offers Thai and Western dishes with vegetarian options as well as plenty of little nooks and crannies with tucked-away tables to wile a day away.

Visitors recommend the Spicy Wings (THB135/US$4), Korean-style fried chicken wings with dipping sauce, Grilled salmon (THB290/US$8.9), served with asparagus and tomatoes, Quesadilla (THB150/US$5.5) with mushrooms, pizza sauce, spinach, and cheese, Mac ‘n Cheese (THB180/US$4.6) featuring cheddar cheese and fried bacon, and the Mango Smoothie (THB115/US$3.5). Fans say the food is fresh, wholesome, and made to order.

Their various Hot and Cold Lattes (THB85/US$2.6) with the foam formed into teddy bear heads are always a hit and reviewers call it a good brunch option too, with plenty to look at it while waiting for your food.

Others say that stepping through the door of B-Story feels like leaving Bangkok altogether.

Unlike many of Bangkok’s more interesting or unusual theme cafes, this one is spectacularly easy to get to: just hop down the steps at Rachathewi BTS and there it is at the front of Cocowalk, looking quite out of place in a plaza that houses mostly college student-frequented skateboarding bars, beer pubs, cat cafes, and cheap Thai food spots.

Cocowalk is just ten minutes’ walk from Siam station too.

The look of the cafe is so over-the-top romantic that the place is often booked for proposal dinners, bachelorette get togethers, bridal showers, and weddings even though it’s not a pricey place, with many dishes in the THB150 (US$4.6) range.
