Recently arrived to Bangkok’s burgeoning food scene: Ash Kickers, a new barbecue joint that’s based on a cool concept of blending barbecue with bourbon.
Located on Soi Ekkamai 12, the two-floor restaurant has specialized in making ultra-tender, flavorful meat that’s been wood-smoked at low temperatures for up to 16 hours since it opened in February.
Led by a Hawaii-grown chef named Colin Stevens, the smokehouse’s signature dishes include smoked brisket (with a choice of Australian Wagyu or Black Angus for THB880), smoked beef brisket sandwich with fries (THB490) and Hawaiian Kalua pork (THB450).
If you come with buddies or colleagues, your group may want to opt for the Ash Kickers Combo, a platter that contains a little bit of everything: brisket, pork belly, Kalua pork, homemade sausage and smoked wings for THB1,360.
While hopheads can chug at the restaurant’s signature craft beer Smoked Maibock (285ml for THB260 / 473ml for THB320), those who want something different with their barbecue can pick from a selection of over 20 bottles of bourbon available at Ash Kickers’ bar.
Founded by Stevens and Gary Stewart, Ash Kickers Briskets & Bourbon is open 5pm to 11pm, Tuesday through Friday, and 11am until 11pm on weekends. It’s located on Soi Ekkamai 12 and can be reached by motorbike taxi or cab from BTS Ekkamai.
