Welcome to Weekend Warrior, where we offer you a few ideas to kick-start your weekend of mayhem. Warriors, go forth.
Friday
Gig: A Photographic Exhibtion at Moose Bangkok
Instead of spending your Friday night partying like a madman, why not spend it looking at pictures of other people partying like madmen? Gig: A Photographic Exhibition allows you to get thoroughly meta with its presentation of a series of photos from Jesper Hynes who, 12 years ago, set about the task of photographically documenting the indie venue Gig Groceries. The exhibition’s opening party, slated for tonight, will feature a DJ set from Tul Apartmentkhunpa, who will try to recreate Gig’s original mayhem.
7pm – 9pm. Free. Moose Bangkok, Ekkamai 21, Bangkok, Thailand.
Saturday
Having launched in high style last week, Future Sound of Bangkok is this time around rebranding itself as Mi Casa es Su Casa and thenceforth trucking right along. Though the moniker has changed, the event’s selection of remarkable musical offerings remains more-or-less unsullied. Jaydubb will be heading up the affair, with guest sets from local DJ Gus and NK Chan from Japan.
10pm. THB300 (includes one drink). Glow Nightclub. BTS Asok Station.
Elephant White screening at Central World
Thailand’s International Film Destination Festival is trying to induce more filmmakers to pick up their productions and head for the Kingdom. In order to make a case for this country’s cinematic prospects, the Festival’s directors have elected to screen some of the finer films produced within this country. 2011’s Elephant White is about as ridiculous an action movie as you can come by, which is to say it’s pretty awesome. With star Djimon Hounsou and director Prachya Pinkaew on hand for a Q&A, this is a fantastic chance to introduce yourself to some Bangkok-born cinema.
8pm. SF World Cinema at Central World. BTS Chit Lom Station.

Sunday
British Icon 2 at Play Yard by Studio Bar
Music collective Sound Craft has enlisted the help of six Thai bands to play an intricate game of dress-up. Each of the bands at tonight’s show will don the guise of an iconic, British act and perform songs written by that Anglican, pop music progenitor. Highlights should include Mahassajan Thammada as The Beatles, The Chipmunks as The Cribs and Zweedz’n Roll as Radiohead.
7:30pm. Price TBA. Play Yard by Studio Bar, Lad Phrao Soi 8, Bangkok, Thailand.
