9 things that are better Benihana style

Presented by

Here’s the beef: A new Benihana is hitting downtown Bangkok at AVANI Atrium Hotel. This is why you need to go.

1. Chefs

They’re the ninjas of the cooking world, literally. Benihana chefs slice, dice and juggle their way to your heart, all while whipping up amazing seared scallops and perfectly cooked wagyu.  You can even choose your chef when you book your table.

2. Sake

Sake is serious here. Booths have the option to “Press for Sake”, which initiates a dancing sake parade fit for a Yakuza boss. Oh well, you didn’t need to go to work tomorrow!

3. Cocktails

Beautiful and dangerous: how we like our cocktails and our dates. Apparently Benihana agrees. Their elaborate drinks pack a martial arts punch. Indulge in Sakura of Bangkok (THB 290), a sexy combo of strawberry vodka, cointreau, strawberry puree, and sweet and sour. Romantics will love Hana Sparkling (THB 290); gin, fruit tea, lime, elderflower, and soda topped with rose petals.

4. Seafood

Alaskan King Crab (THB 700) features large chunks of meaty crab tossed in spicy black pepper sauce and celery. Benihana’s Signature Sashimi (THB 450) is classic seared tuna with sesame, teriyaki and yuzu sauce, on a bed of crisp radish and onion salad. This dish may not be juggle-able but whatever it lacks in excitement it makes up for with fresh, high quality tuna.

5. Sushi

The Godzilla XXV (THB500) brings together opposing teams of sushi and meat lovers in never before seen harmony.  A generous portion of wagyu is seared at the table and prepared on a salmon tempura and asparagus roll, with mustard and black pepper sauce, Japanese radish and salmon eggs.

6. Wagyu

Japanese wagyu is the highlight of this fine establishment. The 250g Strip Loin (THB 3,500) is Hida Waygu Beef Grade A4. Pervasive marbling ensures each bite is equally fatty, rich and juicy with an intense beef flavor that non-wagyu just can’t provide. For non-beef eaters there’s teppanyaki grilled Chicken Breast (THB 550) or Japanese Scallops (THB 700). Each comes with Japanese onion soup, hibachi grilled vegetables, Benihana signature salad, fried rice, and an appetizer of grilled prawns.

7. Grilling

When the teppanyaki grill is fired up the energetic Chef Mario turns into a many armed grill god with utensils flying around, prawns flipping and eggs juggling. All while cracking jokes and getting the crowd to join in. Chef, stand up comic, hilarious magician? Check, check, check.

8. Desserts

This is Japanese American fusion at its sweetest. Go for Cheesecake Dumplings with Berry Coulis (THB 150) or Ice Cream Tempura (THB 120) with rich vanilla ice cream fried in tempura batter and doused with tangy passion fruit sauce.

9. Celebrations

Birthday coming up? Make it a sake surprise. Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary? Get grandma building an onion volcano of fire. Niece’s graduation? She should probably have some egg juggling skills to add to her resume. Benihana is just the place to wake up your jaded group of Bangkokian friends with some flame throwing action.

Lucky you! You get 10% off food at Benihana now until 30 November 2015. Just present this article at the restaurant. Click here for more information and to make reservations now.
