For the Valentine’s traditionalists who are planning a customary evening’s escape from home for a night of good food and an unnecessarily romantic hotel stay, here’s some of the offerings and promotions from some of Bangkok’s visitor-starved hotels.

 

Valentine’s Special Buffet at Zeta Cafe

Got a big, lovely appetite? Partake deeply at a special “Valentine’s Special Buffet Dinner” (It’s special!) at Zeta Café, in the Holiday Inn Bangkok of Sukhumvit 22. Piles of sushi and sashimi await, along with a carving station with lamb and ribs, fresh seafood on ice including oysters, New Zealand mussels, large river prawns and rock lobsters, and delicious desserts.

L’Appart @ Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

Paris is for lovers, so settle for the next best thing at the Sofitel’s French restaurant. Sit under the stars on the 32nd floor or inside the “Parisian-style apartment” for a four-course wine dinner or savour à la carte. It’s THB3,999 per person for the the full experience and THB450 per dish for a la carte.

Destination of Love at Blue Elephant

Chef Nooror Somany Steppe has created a menu designed to seduce your love with the magical powers of Thai herbs.

The special six-course meal features dishes such as watermelon with river prawns, mango salad with sea bass in lotus petals, lemongrass scallops, bird’s nest and lobster soup and rose petal sorbet. THB 5,000 per couple.

In the mood of Love at The Brasserie

The Brasserie inside the Holiday Inn Bangkok, Silom, is also fielding a buffet featuring seafood, live teppanyaki as well as a variety of salads, desserts and selection of ice creams. Dinner is THB1,500 per couple and includes a drink, chocolates and roses for every couple.

BlueSpice’s Valentine’s Day Couples Special

Looking for something earlier before setting into an evening of romance-time? BlueSpice Restaurant inside the Grande Centre Point Hotel at Terminal 21 is offering an international buffet lunch featuring a DIY-style pasta menu that lets you mix and match ingredients and flavors to your likings, and a parade of thin-crust Italian pizzas drenched with cheese and various toppings. It’s only THB440 per person and includes a Valenne cocktail for each.

Time for Love inside the Hourglass

The Hourglass at AETAS Lumpini Hotel presents “À la Minute Dinner Set,” a superb four-course meal a romantic environment. The meal begins a glass of sparkling wine, and then unlimited choices from the salad and soup bar before a main course of either spicy salmon (pan-fried salmon filet with spicy mayonnaise sauce served with deep-fried potatoes), lamb kra prao (pan-fried rack of lamb in Thai spicy sauce served with squid ink fettuccine, or grilled beef strip loin (grilled Australian beef strip loin served with grilled vegetables, fried potatoes and pepper sauce). The main course is complemented with one glass of red or white wine. Set dinner price is THB2,200 per couple, plus 10% service charge and 7 % tax.

Dinner by candlelight at the Emerald Hotel
