The Walking Backpack: Stunning photos of college student’s backpacking journey

No way. Are you saying backpacking is not only for farangs?

Pan, a third-year Thai college student in Singapore, has become an idol for Thai youngsters after he shared his backpacking journey on the internet.

“Last year I decided to go on an adventure by myself after thinking for a long time because my parents and friends didn’t agree with it,” Pan said on Facebook. “They said I wouldn’t be able to eat alone.”

Unlike most Thais who would plan every minute of their trip, Pan says he didn’t have an itinerary and went with the flow with his backpack and a camera to capture the memories.

“For my journey I took my backpack, cameras and tripod,” he mused. “I didn’t book hostels and plan what to do. I only researched what’s interesting about the city I was going and slept wherever I was at when the sun went down.”

Pan visited six countries last year: Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. On each trip, he met many travelers across the globe and found out he never had to eat alone just once.
