In our next look at animal fighting in Thailand, Coconuts TV travels south to go inside the world of bullfighting.
Bullfighting is a popular sport in Phatalung province, but there are no flashy Matadors here. The non-mortal combat is purely bull-on-bull. Like Muay Thai, it is seen as part of an ancient tradition of combat – and gambling. One win alone can mean millions of baht for the bull’s owner.
While some will object to fighting animals in any context, there’s one key difference to consider here: Unlike human-on-animal Western bullfighting, the animals are not killed and live to fight another day.
