Souls of Bangkok: The Moo-ping Artist

SOULS OF BANGKOK — Up near the top of Silom Road stands a man and his moo ping, or skewered pork. Almost every day for 10 years he’s been preparing moo ping for tourists, workers, hustlers and all the others who frequent this popular area. “I have been here over a decade, from the boom of Silom Soi 4 to what it is today,” he said of what is now one of the capital’s trendiest gay districts. Sometimes, regular customers from overseas offer to buy his recipe or open a restaurant in another country. He’ll never sell, but he’s happy to send them home with a bulk bundle.

Souls of Bangkok is a Coconuts series of street portrait photography inspired by Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York. Every human has a story to tell, and we intend to share some from the millions of souls who call Bangkok home.
