New in Cinema: Emma Watson’s hotness overshadowed by Halloween horror movies

NATCHA ON FILM This week’s movies, once again, are pretty disappointing. First off we have a romantic comedy called “Love Arumirai” where a couple switches bodies. Next we have “Ghost Ship”, which is surprisingly about a haunted ship. Then we have “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse”, which is about three nerdy boy scouts who try to save their town from a zombie apocalypse. Also released this week is “Ju-On: The Final Curse”, nothing really new in this film; just more creepy little kids. “Foodies” looks to be the only promising film as it follows the life of elite food critics. Lastly, we have “Regression”, which seems like a typical mystery thriller.

Love Arumirai

Love A-ru-mi-rai. If you flip that Thai sentence, it’s “Love Arai-mai-ru” or “What is this love?” in Thai. This proves Thais put more thought into their movie titles than their plots.

We’ve all watched movies before where two people swap bodies but their personalities remain the same. Well, this is another one of those movies.

The plot involves the husband, a top policeman, and the wife, a famous fashion designer, who swap bodies and live the lives of their significant other. It’s a comedy that’s been done before but with a Thai twist.

Mon Son Phi (Ghost Ship)

I swear this is like the tenth Thai horror film that’s come out in the past three months, and it’s starting to get really repetitive.

“Ghost Ship” begins with three sailors who find a dead woman’s body in one of their containers, which doesn’t seem plausible because women aren’t allowed on the ship for some reason. They soon realize the ship is haunted and there are more ghosts than people onboard.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

I think we already have way too many zombie movies and this another one to add to the list of lame ones.

“Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” is about a group of nerdy boy scouts who try to crash a party across town but they find out everyone’s already turned into zombies. Along with a random stranger they meet at a liquor store, they try to save the town from the zombies.

Ju-on: The Final Curse

Call me a wimp or whatever you want but I could only watch 30 minutes of “Ringu”.

This installment of the series is apparently the last one and it follows from “Ju-on: The beginning of the end” in which Mai, the sister of the elementary school teacher, Yui Shono, goes to look for her sister after she disappeared. Mai eventually finds out what has happened to her sister and tries to end the Ju-on curse once and for all.

Foodies

Who doesn’t like food? Well, I know I do.

“Foodies” is a documentary showcasing the fine dining subculture of foodies. The documentary follows the life of several food critics and bloggers to get an insight into their life as they wine and dine at the best restaurants on Earth.

This one is interesting despite it being a lengthy documentary.

Regression

Sign me up for any movie Emma Watson is in… except for maybe this one.

“Regression” is a mystery thriller about a father who is accused of sexually harassing his daughter, but she has no memory of the incident. The relationship between the two is torn apart as the police try to piece together what really happened.
