PHOTO ESSAY: Year of the Water Snake in Yaowarat

Out with the old, in with the new – over the weekend residents of Bangkok flocked to the Yaowarat Chinatown area to bid farewell to the Year of the Dragon and welcome the Year of the Snake, and we were on hand with cameras. After a weekend of auspicious signs and heavy consumption (Peking duck and suckling pig come to mind), we at Coconuts think the year is off to a fine start.

If you weren’t able to brave traffic to make your way to Chinatown or if you haven’t been following us on Instagram, we’ve put together a photo essay to give you a sense of the mood. Happy Chinese New Year!
