WTF Gallery to host exhibition from war photographer Tim Hetherington

Next month, Bangkok will play host to a unique exhibition from one of this generation’s most talented combat photographers.

“Tim Hetherington: Infidel” will feature examples of its eponymous subject’s photography and video. An extensively traveled and decorated war photographer, Hetherington’s most impressive accomplishments included a 2007 World Press Photo of the Year award and the documentary Restrepo, on which he collaborated with journalist Sebastien Junger.

This showcase of Hetherington’s work warrants special attention because of its unique genesis.

Prior to Hetherington’s 2011 death while on assignment in Libya, he and WTF Gallery co-owner Christopher Wise had prepared a photography installation that would feature Hetherington’s reporting on the “daily rituals and crushing boredom” of American combat troops in Afghanistan.

Though Hetherington was killed prior to the show’s opening, “Infidel” culls from his book of the same name to provide both a tribute to the late photographer and a timely showcase for some of his finest work.

“Infidel” will open with a reception on April 4 and run through June 2.
