CMPO: Bangkok stable enough to lift emergency decree

Maybe it’s not much more than a technicality, but it will be nice to no longer live in a State of Emergency.

The government’s special crisis group said today the situation in Bangkok now justifies lifting the emergency decree as soon as next week.

Tarit Pengdith of the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order said Thailand could transition back to the Internal Security Act provisions next week.

Lifting the decree early will require cabinet approval. Without renewal, it will automatically expire March 22, Bangok Post reported.
