CHAMPIONS: Leicester City win Premier League title

Thai-owned Leicester City have won England’s Premier League after their closest rival Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2 with Chelsea early this morning.

After Leicester drew 1-1 at Manchester United on Sunday, Tottenham needed to win all three of their remaining league games to catch the Foxes.

But their title hopes were ended when they squandered a 2-0 lead to only draw at London rivals Chelsea.

At the start of the season, the odds being offered on Leicester, owned by Thailand’s duty free retailer King Power Group, winning the title were 5,000-1 against.

Defender Christian Fuchs shared a video on Twitter of Leicester’s players celebrating their monumental feat at the home of striker Jamie Vardy.

Defender Wes Morgan, who scored his side’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday, summed up the mood.

“Nobody believed we could do it, but here we are, Premier League champions and deservedly so,” he told Leicester’s website.

“Saturday can’t come quickly enough. I can’t wait to get my hands on the trophy.”

Leicester will enjoy a title party at their King Power Stadium when Everton visit on Saturday.
