Police may have a break in the “whistle murders” after reviewing CCTV footage of a group of men dumping what might have been a body into the Chao Phraya River.
Three people found were found dead with whistles around their necks earlier this year, crimes suspected of being politically charged murders.
On Friday police released CCTV footage showing a group of suspects police suspect are responsible for the murders dumping a large, suspicious object into the river.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau believe the three three murder cases are linked. The victim was discovered on Kamphaeng Petch road in January. Another was found in late February when the corpse was retrieved from Chao Phraya river. The third victim was kidnapped in Lumpini Park, beaten up and dumped in Bangpakong River. He was rescued by a local boat on March 3. All three victims had a whistle around their necks, not wearing their own clothes, and had their hands and feet tied up.
The CCTV footage released Friday was captured at the Rama VIII bridge on Feb. 24 showing suspects in a truck negotiating with the cleaning officers because the bridge was close for cleaning at the time. The drivers were granted permission to drive onto the bridge as they stopped in the middle. Two passengers got out of the vehicle and dumped a large object into Chao Phraya River.
Two days later, authorities discovered the body of a man stuffed in a canvas bag in Chao Phraya River near the Krung Thon Bridge.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau reveals they cannot conclude just yet if the suspects are involved with a political group or not. They only say the investigation is going well as citizens have sent tips to help solve to case. However more concrete evidence is needed for the police to be able to identify the criminals and issue an arrest warrant, Kapook reported.
