Millennial Pink comes back to haunt Johor: Rose-tinted twister captured on video

Instagrammers in search of a backdrop that isn’t a wall and lovers of that mid-2010s color wash that was (is?) widely referred to as “millennial pink,” prepare yourselves for a heady dose of FOMO: A blush-pink lil tornado was spotted spinning in Johor over the weekend.

A motorist noticed the unusual formation while driving, and buster out their phone camera for a clip that lasted less than a minute. The video was then uploaded to Facebook page of bike tricks and parking grievances We Are Malaysians where it’s gotten 17,000 views.

Video commentators were quick to remove the rose-tinted glasses from anyone thinking the tornado was a natural phenomenon, with many speculating that it was the by-product of a nearby factory’s pollution. One user claimed that they had observed a similar occurrence two weeks ago.

While one woman pointed out that a motorist ran a red light trying to get that clip for the ‘gram y’all.

Dust devils are short-living phenomenon that rarely reach the intensity of an actual tornado. They range from about half a meter wide, and a few meters tall, to being over 10 meters wide and a thousand meters tall. Their motion is upwards, and are relatively harmless. They occur mostly as a swirling updraft of hot air in sunny weather.
