A doctor from Catanduanes was found dead inside the restroom of Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 yesterday morning.

The doctor was identified as Richard Alexander Diaz Pareñas and his body was found by a janitor at the restroom of NAIA’s domestic pre-departure area at past 8am yesterday, reported Radyo Inquirer.

Pareñas’ body was unresponsive and had no pulse when he was found, reported ABS-CBN News. According to NAIA’s staff, he was bound for Davao City and checked in for his Cebu Pacific flight at around 5:26am.

A witness said that the doctor was seen entering the restroom at around 6:15am but no one saw or heard from him after.

A medical team arrived at the area and tried to revive Pareñas but they found that he had already died of cardiorespiratory arrest; what caused this is still unknown.

Pareñas worked as a legal officer in the Viga District Hospital in Catanduanes, reported GMA News. Authorities have launched an investigation into his death.
