Animal adoption has been a hot topic for a few years now, but it always needs more attention, at least in Hong Kong. There are thousands of floofers and puppers waiting to be adopted, animals all over Hong Kong in need of rescue, and animal shelters operating at full capacity. Well, they say that every dog has its day, but every dog deserves a home and a loving family too.
With all this in mind, the Hellodog foundation presents the first edition of the “Hellodog Fest 2019” on April 13 and 14 at the Nursery Park, West Kowloon District. Head on down, all you dog lovers out there!
You’re probably wondering what this new festival is all about. Don’t get your collars in a twist y’all, we’re getting to that.
The Hellodog Fest is a pet friendly carnival that promises two days of fun and a lot more. The carnival is divided into five stages with something for everyone.
Not your regular runway
The event’s main stage is marked by a Runway Show. Yes, you read that right. But it’s not one of those regular, run-of-the-mill Runway Shows with boring old supermodels and Victoria Secret babes. Better yet, this show features cute little pups in need of a home, represented by the various animal rescue organizations of Hong Kong. That’s making you go “awww” already, right?
Conversation street
This one goes out to all you dog owners out there (or dog parents more like it). The Talk Zone is filled with sessions on canine aging, heart disease, first aid, pet insurance, and much more throughout the two-day festival. What can we say? The Hellodog Fest is not only fun and games. You can reserve your seats online, but feel free to walk in and check it out for yourself.
All things fun and games
Ok, but there is still a lot of that. And it’s not all for the dogs, if that’s what you were wondering. The Play Zone has something for everyone. You can try your hand at making cleansers and bath bombs at workshops by LUSH, an animal cruelty-free cosmetics brand. Or you can join the workshop on “how to supervise greeting and play between dogs” to learn dog languages.
There’s even animal-themed face painting and dating with rescued dogs on April 13. Sounds fun right? Who knows, you might even meet the canine love of your life!
Healthy doggo, happy home
There’s an Exercise Zone for all you fitness enthusiasts out there with an outdoor dog yoga class. What’s better than some yoga with your best friend out on a bright green lawn, right? There will also be a dog massage station where your dog can enjoy a 5-minute massage session by certified veterinary and pet physios.
The Marketplace
Have you ever tried your hand at augmented reality? If you have, you know how cool it is. And if you haven’t, here’s your chance. You can play fetch with a virtual pup with some AR at the Marketplace.
There’s also the best of pet food and snacks, flea and tick protection, organic body care, pet photography for all you concerned pet parents out there.
Then get your dog’s health check done for free by certified professionals. You just have to register online beforehand.
