A young girl has been accused of being a heartless animal abuser after she allegedly unleashed her dog upon a stray cat in a residential estate at Toa Payoh Lorong 8.
According to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), it is required by law for pet owners to leash their dogs in public places, with a maximum fine of $5,000 for anyone caught not doing so. Nonetheless, community cat feeder Marilyn Chow claimed that the young girl she confronted last night didn’t see anything wrong in unleashing her dog, which unsurprisingly went to chase down a cat. The girl even challenged Chow to call the police, she wrote in a Facebook post.
When asked why the dog had to be unleashed, the young lady apparently told Chow that it needed to defecate. Further questioning prompted the girl to claim that she is a veterinary student — albeit a questionable one if true, considering she didn’t appear to be concerned about the condition of the cat that her dog scared off. Chow was not able to find the cat and is unsure if it got injured in the incident.
Chow then took pictures of the girl, who even dragged in her parents to demand that the images get deleted.
“She even followed me to my friend’s place too. Now that she cannot locate me, she brought her parents twice to my friend’s house and said wanted to call police. So unreasonable!”
