For both Bangkokians and hip travelers, Amphawa does not place high on the list of must-go places. A sleepy riverside village famous for its tourist trap floating market tours advertised via dirty laminated signs in city taxis, it might be a place you take your parents or out-of-town friend for a quick spin when you’re all short on time.
On a normal leisure-seeking day, though? Not so much.
The organizers of Day Trip, a boutique festival happening this weekend, hope to change that — at least for two days.
Offering what they bill as a “boutique festival” thrown “picnic-style” in Amphawa, Bangkok house DJs Koish and Superstar Panda, who also organized the event, hope to turn rustic-chic resort Baan Tai Had on its ear.
The event features a Saturday lineup of favorite Thai acts like Chamapoo, NK Chan, the Transport crew, DJ Bedcheck, Selby MG, and Cut the Crab. Two acts are also coming in from Jakarta to play the event, Arrio and Harvy Abdurachman.
Sunday, the chilled out day, is when guests can go to nearby Amphawa Floating Market for a “floating silent disco” by Sunset Vibes Boat Parties. We’re not sure how people won’t fall into the dirty market waters while dancing on the boats but, well, we’d like to see.
In between floating discos and the main stage, the riverside event allows for great scenery as well as full access to the resort’s pool.
