A Malaysian man has been sentenced in Singapore after recording videos and photographing various men urinating in cubicles without their knowledge. The incidents occurred along the popular Orchard Road shopping district.

Police found more than 40 images and clips on Colin Teo Han Jern’s mobile phone. The 27-year-old pled guilty to making obscene films, four counts of public nuisance, and another count of possession of an obscene film. He had been facing as many as 30 additional counts. He was sentenced to 10 weeks jail, and given an SG$4,000 (US$3,000) fine.

The incidents occurred between March 8 and Sept. 9 last year with police identifying at least 33 victims.

Teo is a sales executive with a pharmaceutical company.

His modus operandi was to enter a toilet cubicle and place his phone over the partition to record his victim in the occupied adjacent cubicle.

He was finally busted when a victim spotted the phone and made a fast grab for it. Upon going through the phone’s contents, he found images of himself urinating, and deleted them. In addition to his photos, he also found other men’s pictures and videos. Concierge services at Paragon mall were alerted, and the police were contacted.

Also on the phone were two videos that Teo recorded in Japan, unofficial land of sexual freakery.

The judge ruled that the lack of victim’s consent was the biggest aggravator in the case and that while the videos were not circulated, had he lost his phone, they could very well have landed in the public sphere.
