At 78, Lolo Tiyo from Nueva Ecija goes out to work every single day.
What does he do? Well, he shapes eyebrows and gives haircuts for a living.
Yep, every day Lolo Tiyo rolls out his mobile hair and brow salon on his bicycle. For just PHP 20.00, he will make your brows on fleek with just a few swift waves of his blade.
As fabulous as his job may be, he still has to work to provide for his daily needs since his wife passed away.
Award-winning broadcast journalist and My Puhunan host Karen Davila was so moved by Lolo Tiyo’s story. She shared a photo of her and Lolo Tiyo on her official Facebook page.
She wrote, “I was so touched because he lives alone, his wife died — ‘sa sobrang katatawa’ (from laughing too much) — and despite his old age, not a lazy day goes by for him!”
Lolo Tiyo tells Davila, “Sana may mag-alaga sa akin, pero wala — kaya nagtatrabaho pa rin ako araw-araw para makakain. Ayokong tamad at pahiga-higa lang.“
(I hope there’s someone who will take care of me, but there’s no one — so I still work everyday so I can have something to eat. I don’t like being lazy and just lying around.)
That’s the spirit, Lolo Tiyo! We hope more people will follow your lead.
