This year we tucked into dishes from imports Tim Ho Wan, Ippudo, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Linguini Fini, and Triple O’s. The food scene will continue to bubble with excitement with these upcoming restaurants from abroad that are set to open before you can shout, “I want more!”
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse
Wolfgang Zwiener, former waiter at famous Peter Luger Steakhouse, opened his own restaurant in the US, serving porterhouse, rib eye steak, filet mignon and a range of sides including creamed spinach, fried onion rings and sautéed mushrooms. The second branch in Asia (the first is in Tokyo) will be at Resorts World Manila. (Photo from nycgo.com)
Pink’s Hotdog
America’s top hotdog brand moved all the way up from being a humble hotdog stand to a pushcart and, at present, as a well-loved institution in Hollywood. We don’t have to wait long to enjoy its famous chili dogs and burgers in Metro Manila. Watch this space for the exact location. (Photo from inthelooppodcast.com)
Din Tai Fung
The authentic Taiwanese restaurant has already been serving its famous xiao long bao and steamed chicken soup to countries like Thailand, Australia and the US. Soon, we will get to enjoy the very same things as well as find ourselves watching the chefs at work as we peek through the signature glass-walled kitchen, as seen from outside the restaurant. Bistro Du Vin
The soonest to open among these restaurants is Singapore-born restaurant Bistro du Vin. The casual bistro will serve an assortment of French dishes minus the usual pageantry and grandeur typically associated with French fine-dining cuisine. Watch this space for the exact location.
