The 25-year-old victim, who suffered 60 percent burns to her body when her mobile phone caught fire at a petrol station three weeks ago, has reportedly died.
Wangsa Maju police chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif confirmed this news with Bernama, saying T.Sarifhla’s family informed police that she died at 5am, Sunday at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
“The victim’s family announced the death today and the case was classified as sudden death,” he was quoted as saying.
Sarifhla was rushed to the hospital on June 28 after her mobile phone caught fire at a petrol station in Taman Setapak Indah, while she was filling petrol.
She was believed to have entered her Perodua Axia and closed the door while using her mobile phone.
