Two men beaten in karaoke bar, allegedly for horrible singing voices

Two travel agents said they were beaten inside a karaoke bar in Chiang Mai last night, allegedly because the attackers were annoyed by their horrible singing voices.

The victims, whose identities were withheld, filed a police complaint at 2am today after they were allegedly beaten by a group of men in a karaoke bar on Wiang Ping Road.

They said their attackers were workers at the bar, who beat them and smashed their motorcycles for no good reason. The two men ran away and were taken to the hospital by good samaritans.

After the trip to the hospital, they decided to file a police complaint.

The victims said they did not have conflicts with their attackers, but they assumed the men were annoyed by their singing voices because they were singing at a high-pitch.

The investigation is underway, Sanook reported.

In other news, there have been reports of tourists, especially foreigners, getting overcharged at karaoke bars in Chiang Mai.

In December 2013, a Dutch man was knocked out after he refused to pay THB30,000 for a few beers at a karaoke bar on Chiang Mai’s Sri Don Chai area, according to Manager.
