Pongsapat promises lower cost of living during first campaign speech

Pongsapat Pongcharoen, the ruling Pheu Thai Party’s candidate for Bangkok’s governorship, promised to lower the cost of living for Bangkok residents during his first campaign address, which he delivered yesterday at 7:30PM.

The deputy-police-chief-turned-politician began his address at the Lan Khon Muang plaza, in front of Bangkok’s city hall, by highlighting his ability to smoothly coordinate with Thailand’s ruling party.

During the speech, Pongsapat proposed offering free bus service throughout Bangkok as well as free express boat rides on the Saen Seab Canal.

He also offered policies aimed at increasing the quality of life in Bangkok. These policies included increasing the number of CCTV cameras in Bangkok, installing lights and restrooms at every bus stop, upgrading 68 community public health centers to hospitals and elevating footpaths to the same height of buses’ stairs in order that disabled people might more easily board these forms of transport.

“All I said are not populist policies,” said the No.9 candidate. “They are policies of a new governor who wants to reduce the burden of people. Every policy is not a lie but a concrete goal.”

According to Dailynews, Pongsapat wrapped up his speech at 8:20PM and jumped down from the stage to greet his supporters.
