A woman is in the hospital after she crashed her car into a tunnel wall along the Central Expressway, setting it ablaze.
The 33-year-old unidentified woman was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital yesterday after two passersby rescued her from the wreck, shortly before the black hatchback caught fire. Firefighters said they were alerted to the incident at around 5pm and arrived soon after to put out the flames.
“SCDF has reached out to the two good Samaritans and commend them for their quick-thinking and selfless act,” the Singapore Civil Defence Force said in a statement last night. It shared photos of the wrecked Honda Fit after it was sprayed with fire extinguishing foam. An investigation is underway.
Videos that circulated online showed cars passing through the tunnel enroute to Seletar Expressway and driving past the flaming vehicle.
