A little girl suffered a complete loss of face when she got the chance to pose for a photo with Singaporean politician Nicole Seah at the Bedok food market.

A photo shared Sunday by the former Workers’ Party candidate has gotten attention not for the two adults seen, but the poor girl whose face is covered by the hands of what looks to be her mother. Seah, 34, met the pair while talking to constituents at the center, which falls under the East Coast constituency she failed to win in last year’s election.

“The mum’s a savage tho lol – poor girl,” a Danellia Yeo reacted on Monday.

“Poor girl, why mummy cover her face,” another said Sunday.

Where many saw a careless but inadvertent face grasp, at least one person saw an intentional act.

Someone named Chng Siwei praised the woman in the photo, calling her a “good parent” for “censoring her face.”

The photo with the girl was among several pictures shared by Seah.

“Back at 216 this morning. Lots of patrons queuing up for the iconic kway chap, ba chor mee, and mee hoon kueh, amongst many other delectable options,” she wrote, referring to local dishes sold at the 216 Bedok Food Centre and Market. “I also feel that it is important for us to hear all voices and the concerns of older Singaporeans as well, and the on ground outreach is one of the main avenues to do that.”

Seah was on the opposition party’s losing slate of candidates to represent the East Coast GRC. They were defeated by the ruling People’s Action Party, which secured over 53% of the vote in July.
